INTRODUCTION

Unicollege will train you in the field of tourism management and its related commercial activities. You will learn to program, organize and promote tourism of any size, from local to international. Throughout the three year period, you will combine the study of languages to an accurate analysis of the sector, investigating its sociological, juridical and commercial aspects. You will learn to valorise the Italian heritage as well as developing its potential following precise economic development strategies, and you will build expert skills in territorial marketing. At the end of the third year, you will complete your high-profile training operating as a linguistic mediator in private and public touristic organizations.

FUTURE CAREER PATH

Upon completion of the three year program in tourism and artistic and cultural heritage management, you will work as:

  • Linguistic operator for tourism.
  • Linguistic mediator expert specialized in the promotion and protection of the artistic and cultural heritage.
  • Corporate business translator.
  • Intercultural expert for public entities, private organizations, tourist offices and publishing companies.
  • Intercultural tourism itineraries’ planner at national and internal level.
  • Intercultural mediator.
  • Negotiation, consecutive and simultaneous interpreter.
  • Mediator and linguistic consultant.
  • Tecnical translator.
STUDY PLAN

This is your study plan to work as a linguistic mediator in Tourism and Artistic and Cultural Heritage Management. First of all, however, you will need to decide whether you wish to graduate as a translator or also as an interpreter.

Translator and interpreter, in fact, are two different professions. For this reason Unicollege offers teachings, labs and training that are tailored to each professional figure.  Follow the path that best suits your ambitions.

You will analyse a written text, and you will convert it to another language, making sure the translated version conveys with the meaning of the original as clearly as possible.

Unicollege will teach you to perfection not just linguistic mediation in English, but also in another language to choose from the below list. You could also decide to take on a third one, maybe a non-European one, including it in your study plan as a free choice module.

• MEDIATION TECHNIQUES

Learning a language is a question of technique. With these mediation techniques, Unicollege will teach you to hone it like no one else.

Active and passive translation
You will learn to convert a written text from the source language into the target language (active) and from the target language into the source language (passive).

Consecutive interpreting
You will learn a specific note-taking technique that will enable you to translate and repeat the speech just heard.

Dialogue interpreting
With this technique you will be able to be the third person who mediates and interpret what is said by two interlocutors who do not speak the same language, in situations such as work meetings, business trips or company visits. Without technical aids.

Simultaneous interpreting (optional lab)
By enrolling to our labs, equipped with soundproof booths, you will learn how to translate and repeat in real time any speech made in a foreign language.

• ATTENDANCE

In order to register for the exam, you must attend at least 75% of the yearly total number of hours of every single teaching. Lectures will take place from Monday to Friday.
