Unicollege was founded in Mantua in 1975 as an institute dedicated to the advanced study of foreign languages, responding to the growing need of the Italian economic landscape to train professionals capable of communicating with global markets and international stakeholders. From the very beginning, the Institute distinguished itself through an innovative approach, viewing languages as applied competencies essential for contemporary professional environments.
In 2003, with the Ministerial Decree of July 31, 2003, published in the Official Gazette No. 201 of August 30, 2003, the former Scuola Superiore per Mediatori Linguistici of Mantua obtained official recognition as a University-Level Institute, authorized to award three-year degrees in the L-12 class, fully equivalent to Italian university bachelor’s degrees. This accreditation positioned the Institute as one of the most established and reputable academic institutions in the field of language studies in Italy.
In 2016, the name Unicollege was introduced, marking the evolution of the Institute toward an international and interdisciplinary identity: from languages as a field of study to languages as operational tools for global professions. The academic offering expanded to include economics, social studies, communication, international relations, tourism, fashion, geopolitics and cultural studies — creating a model that connects linguistic expertise with the needs of international professional sectors.
In 2018, the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (now MUR) authorized the opening of the Florence campus through the Ministerial Decree of April 30, 2018, published in the Official Gazette No. 138 of July 16, 2018, recognizing the high quality of the UniCollege academic model and its strong focus on internationalization.
In 2022, Unicollege further expanded its presence by opening the Turin campus, strengthening its national mission to train professionals with advanced linguistic skills and preparation aligned with global markets.
Today, Unicollege is a leading academic institution in the field of Applied Languages and Global Professions, offering university programs that integrate linguistic expertise, innovative methodologies and an international outlook. With campuses in Mantua, Florence and Turin, the Institute stands as a modern, dynamic and globally oriented institution, recognized for its ability to connect education, professional environments and international contexts.
Today, Unicollege stands as a highly regarded institution with strong connections to the professional world. Companies across different sectors actively welcome our students for curricular internships, which are integrated into the study plan and frequently lead to long-term employment opportunities. Within one year of graduation, 95% of UniCollege alumni are employed or continue their academic journey in a Master’s degree program, confirming the effectiveness of our professional orientation.
With three fully equipped campuses, highly qualified faculty members drawn from both academia and industry, a university residence in Florence, a dedicated Language Center, personalized tutoring services, and a well-established Erasmus+ mobility program with prestigious partner universities across Europe and beyond, Unicollege offers students a comprehensive and internationally focused academic environment.
Students also benefit from curricular internships in Italy and abroad through the Erasmus Placement program, as well as opportunities to study in the United States and Canada through the Columbus Program. In addition, UniCollege provides the possibility of earning a Double Degree in China, the United Kingdom, Portugal or Spain.
