Founded in 1975 in Mantua, in northern Italy, Unicollege has grown from a pioneering language institute into a distinguished center for higher education in applied languages, translation, interpreting, and global studies. Originally established as an international school of advanced foreign language studies, Unicollege made history in 1988 as the first institution in the region officially authorized to grant advanced diplomas in interpreting and translation.
In 2003, Unicollege was formally accredited by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research, joining the prestigious network of “Scuole Superiori per Mediatori Linguistici” (SSML)—university-level institutions specializing in applied language studies and intercultural communication. This designation confirms Unicollege’s academic rigor and its role as a national leader in training linguists, translators, and cultural mediators.
Today, Unicollege is one of Italy’s longest-standing institutions in its field, recognized for its unique academic identity that merges linguistic expertise with international orientation. Its continued success and demand have driven the strategic expansion of its campuses to Florence (2018) and Turin (2022), broadening access to its high-impact, multilingual programs and reinforcing its vision of excellence in global education.

Unicollege operates as a fully accredited “Scuola Superiore per Mediatori Linguistici (SSML)”, officially recognized by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) under Ministerial Decree. This recognition ensures that all degrees offered at Unicollege are equivalent to university-level qualifications within the Italian higher education system and compliant with the European Qualifications Framework.
Unicollege also offers international academic pathways in collaboration with its U.S. School of Record, Westcliff University (California), which is regionally accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). Through this partnership, Unicollege students can access programs that meet both European and U.S. academic standards, including dual-degree and postgraduate options.
